About Us
The Win-Hood Credit Union was founded in 1951 to serve the residents of three neighboring Co-op- complexes Granville Terrace, Winchester Hood Garden Homes and Winchester Hood Extension B.
The credit union serves a total of 350 apartments and offers a variety of loans (apartment purchase, refinancing, remodeling, expenses, auto purchase, etc.), passbook and certificate of deposit accounts.
Our Mission
Win-Hood Co-op Credit Union is a not for profit financial cooperative. Our continuing goals are to promote thrift and to provide the highest quality service and benefits for our members while assuring the credit union's long term financial stability.
Directors and Officers
The Credit Union is owned by the shareholders and is democratically operated. An election for all Directors is held annually in January. At the Annual Meeting, the affairs of the Credit Union are discussed in detail. All members are invited to participate in such meetings. None of the Directors or Officers are paid for their services except for the Treasurer, who receives a nominal amount.
Safety
In the over fifty years of our existence, we have sustained no losses on any of our loans. Dividends have been paid to shareholders each year without exception. In addition to the $250,000 NCUA insurance on each account, all Officers and Directors are bonded as required by law. Regular audits are made by our own Supervisory Committee and by the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
